NAVAL PATROL VESSELS
Building In Australia
The first of 13 naval patrol vessels which are being built in Australia under orders of the British Admiralty has been launched from the naval dockyard at Cockatoo island. Several shipbuilding yards in New South Wales. Victoria. Queensland- and South Australia are contributing to the British order. As each vessel is completed she will be sent overseas to destinations nominated by the British Admiralty. These naval patrol vessel’s are specialized craft of a type urgently needed in European waters. According to an announcement by the Minister for the Navy. Mr. Cameron. lasi. .lime, they are of more than SOO tons, with a length of ISO feet ami possess a good turn of speed. They will be equipped for anti-snhrnarino warfare, minesweeping, and other uuruoses.
