EXCHANGE TRANSACTION

An exchange transaction involving £20,000 sterling was the subject of an action continued in the Supreme Court, Wellington, yesterday. A Wellington, company manager, Alistair Scott, brought the action against the Bank of New South Wales. Mr. Justice Smith heard the case. Mr. E. R. Kirkcaldie appeared for plaintiff, and Mr. F. C. Spratt for defendant. After hearing the submissions of counsel, his Honour reserved his decision, remarking that the transactions, after having been started, had been rendered illegal by the Finance Emergency Regulations gazetted on April 11, and neither side could expect to receive any assistance from the Court.
