RADIO SETS NEEDED

New Zealand Troops In The

Desert

When the First Echelon of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force left New Zealand a number of battery radio sets was sent with them. More have since been forwarded by the National Patriotic Fund Board in response to a request received-from Mr. V. C. Jones, one of the Y.M.C.A. representatives in the Middle East, who are acting as agents of the board. In an earlier report Mr. Jones advised against sending any more radio sets, because, he stated, the institutes were well supplied. Another report received from him, however, stated that the position had changed since then, and that unit movements to outpost work aud desert work had created a demand for radios. “Out of the number we brought with us,” he added, “some are at work in the desert, but we need more.” On receipt of this request the secretary of the National Patriotic Fund Board was able to arrange for 12 more battery sets to be sent at once, and for others to be forwarded later.
