OLD CAST IRON

Collection Possible Later

The National Council for the Reclamation of Waste Material has announced that cast iron, which is not being collected yet, should be held for later collection. Wrought iron and steel are not likely to be called for, so far as the council knows, for they appear to be valueless scrap within New Zealand.

In its directions to local committees the council states that all the non-fer-rous metals that are to lie collected may be crushed or cut up for easy bagging, except brass electric lamp caps. These should be freed of glass but should not he crushed because they are saleable in their original form at a better price than as scrap brass.
