Aircraft Crashes Into Farm Shed
BLENHEIM FATALITY
An acting-pilot of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, under training, was killed instantly at Blenheim yesterday when the aircraft of which he was the sole occupant crashed into* a farm shed at 12.20 p.m., according to an official statement issued in 'Wellington yesterday.
Tlie victim was: leading Aircraftman Haymond Edward George Mason. Next-of-kin: Father, Mr. J. IL Mason, Te Muropai, Reid’s Line, Fcilding.
Leading Aircraftman Mason was engaged in solo flying practice when Hie accident occurred. Tlie aircraft, a Vincent trainer, burst into flames when it struck tlie shed, being completely wrecked.
A Court of Inquiry is to be held today.
Condolences were sent to next-of-kin by Hie Minister of Defence, Mr. Jone.c An aircraft ambulance was quickly on tlie scone, which was about eight miles from the aerodrome.
