Mr. J. E. Macassey arrived at ’Wellington by the steamer express from the South Island yesterday.
Mr. D. Young, Auckland, is visiting Wellington, because of the death of his father, Mr. A. E. Young.
Mr. R. E. Price, chairman of the Waterfront Commission, arrived at Wellington by the Limited express from Auckland yesterday.
Mr. W. R. Carey, manager of the Kai:.poi Woollen Ylanufacturing Co., Ltd., returned south by the steamer express from Wellington last night..
Mr. H. Duckworth, a member of the Wellington Education Board, returned to Blenheim by air yesterday after visiting Wellington.
The Hon. AV. J. Rogers. M.L.C., mayor of Wanganui, who has been on a business visit to Mellington. returned to AVanganul last night.
Mr. A. W. Beckford, Lower Hutt, who recently underwent ir minor operation, has now left: hospital and has returned to his home.
Mr. G. R. Ritchie, Dunedin, a director of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd., arrived at AVellington by the steamer express from the South Island yesterday.
Mr- Clark and Colonel T. IV. McDonald were yesterday appointed the Wellington Education Board's representatives on the Wellington Technical College Board of Governors.
Mr. W. P. Tyser has retired from the [Misltion of president and director of the Port Line, Ltd., according to an announcement made by the company’s London office.
Mr. 11. J. Geddes, M.Ag.Se., formerly assistant to Professor R. E. Alexander at Lincoln College, has been appointed to the Garland Chair of Animal Husbandry, nt Sydney University. Mr. Geddes has been on the agricultura. editor’s staff of the “Weekly Times,’’ Melbourne, for the last six years.
Professor F. P. AVorley, 'professor of chemistry at. Auckland University College, has 'been appointed chairman of the Professorial Board, to assume office on Soptembe.r 1, in succession to Professor .1. Rutherford, professor of history. Professor Worley has also been nominated as the board’s representative on the college council.
Mr. T. T. Russell, resident magistrate at Suva, has been advised of promotion to the position of Crown Counsel, Straits Settlements, and assistant legal adviser, Federated Malay Straits. After serving for several years in Siam, Mr. Russell went to Fiji in 1936 as chief police magistrate, and on several occasions 'he has acted as AttorneyGeneral.
