INVITATION TO PRIME MINISTER
Opening Of Palmerston Intermediate School
Dominion Special Service.
WANGANUI. August 21
Today's meeting of the Wanganui Education Board decided to invite the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, to open Palmerston North Intermediate School in the second week of February. Two new members, Messrs. J. 11. Wallace, Marton, and J. C. Balt,' Wanganui, were welcomed by the chairman. Mr. E. F. Hemingway.
Reference to the death of Mr. H. McIntyre, Feilding, a former member of the board, was made by the chairman. He said Mr. Mclntyre had given many years of service to education in this district.
The following teaching appointments were confirmed: —Mr. S. McNieol, sole teacher, Moawhango; Mr. M. R. Jeffery, sold teaclier, Tapuae; Miss F. Marlin, sole teacher, Porewa; Miss N. J. McKitteriek. infant mistress, West End, Palmerston North ; Miss J.' M. Woods, assistant mistress, Apiti District High School; Miss N. Benge, assistant mistress. Foxton District High .School; Mrs. P. E. Ward, assistant mistress. Turnkina.
Mr. E. F. Hemingway was re-elected chairman for a further term of office. He has_been a member of the board since 1917, and chairman for the past eight years. Mr. P. Munro, Utiku, was elected deputy-cuairman.
