WORK OF PARLIAMENT
Bills For Introduction
RESUMPTION OF BUSINESS Though several bills are to be introduced in the House of Representatives during the Parliamentary session to be resumed today, most of them arc believed to be of a relatively minor nature. A Statute Amendment Bill and a Finance Bill No. 2 will probably provide tlie greatest scope for debate. The first, of these measures may make its appearance today, but it. is not; yet known when the Finance Bill will be ready for introduction. The other bills to be introduced include a Carriage by Air Bill, Health Amendment Bill, Housing Amendment Bill, Thames Borough Commissioner Amendment Bill, Local Legislation Bill and Reserves and Other Lands Disposal Bill. An Insurance Companies Bill was introduced before the adjournment over three weeks ago, but this measure was not proceeded with, being referred to the Statutes Revision Committee.
If members wisli it another secret session will be held tomorrow to enable members to discuss (lie latest developments in New Zealand’s war effort. The session resuming today is unlikely to be very long, and it is expected that this meeting will be followed by another adjournment of several weeks.
Though no caucus of the Parliamentary National Party has actually been called for today, it is possible that the members of the Opposition will have one before the House meets.
