New System For Training' Australian Recruits

A new scheme for the training of recruits in Australia is to be adopted. The scheme will involve the breaking, up. of the present large camps and the forming of a number of small ones. AU troops in future will be organized into infantry battalions of 1000 men. Every colonel will be solely responsible for his own camp. :M ♦ ♦
The French Chamber of Deputies' Postal Commission has recommended penny postage with England.
The Queensland Treasurer has announced that black labour will be abolished in lhe cnneliehls. The Government is determined to make sugar, a white man s industry. Employers will be required to make the change by September 15.
