Funeral Of Mr. A. G.

At the funeral on Saturday of Mr. A. G. Shrimptou, Grand Secretary for the Dominion ot the Manchester Unity of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, till brandies of the Order throughout New Zealand were represented. The large attendance, besides oflicials and members of the Order, included private citizens and representatives of the Friendly Societies’ Department and oilier friendly societies. Tlie chief mourners were Mr. Shrimptou’s son and daughter. Mr. E. Shrimpton and Miss M. Shrimpton. a nephew, Mr. G. Shrimpton, and Miss E. Bentley, of the Grand Secretary’s oilice.

The Rev. F. M. Kempthorne conducted services at St. Mary’s Anglican Church. Karori, and in the Crematorium. Karori Cemetery. The service in tlie Crematorium was followed by the Manchester Unity Service, which was taken by the Grand Master of the Order for New Zealand, Brother N. B. Bellringer, New Plymouth. Tlie casket was carried by Mr. Bellringer. .Mr. N. J. McKay (DeputyGrand Master, Hawke’s Bay), Mr. 11. S. M. Quigley (past Grand Master, Dantievirke), Mr. G. Bead (Grand 'Treasurer, Wellington). Mr. F. Smith (n director of the Order, Auckland), and Mr, G. Coleman (Nelson District Grand Master).

Other friendly societies represented included the Druids, Ancient Order of Foresters, the T.0.0.F., Hibernians, New Zealand Friendly Societies’ Fidelity Society, and there were also representatives present from Lodge Karori < Masonic Order). Tlie Iteclinbite Order was represented by P.D.C.R.’s F. Davis and T. Fathers and I’.C.lt. 11. Jefferys. Among others present were Mr. Lee Martin. Minister in Charge of Friendly Societies; Mr. It. Sinel, head of the Friendly Societies’ Department; Messrs. E. A. Kellow (Manchester Unity auditor); J. E. Allan (Auckland, a director of tlie Order), C. A. Ryder (Auckland District Grand Master), G. Wilson (Wanganui, a director), T. .1. Archbold (North Canterbury, past Grand Master), W. B. Brown < Wellington, a director), A. Gow (Canterbury, a director), E. W. Ghise (Wellington, district secretary), C. G. Turner (’Wellington, solicitor to the Order). A. C. Blair, W. T. Clark, and A. Longmore (Grand Trustees), G. C. I.aws (Hawke’s Bay district secretary), IL Bull (Napier, a past director). A. J. B. Foote (Wellington district Grand .Master). Miss Pat. McLeod (Auckland district ollice). Messrs. A. 11. Robinson (Hawke's Bay District Grand Master), R. Lowe (United Westland District Deputy Grand Masier. (Westport): F. 11. Cooke (Nelson District Secretary): F. Dennis (Secretary Greytown Lodge) : Dr. Oakey (Greytown): J. L. Stewart (Wellington District Treasurer) ; and C. O. Jorgenson (Wellington District Deputy Grand Master). Many floral tributes were received from all parts of the Dominion.

The funeral of Mr. E. A. Dawson look place on Saturday, those present including numerous representatives of flu; New Zealand Boxing Council, (lie 'Wellington Boxing Association, the Railways Department.
