WILL FIGHT ON
Polish Forces With Britain
PLACE IN LINE OF BATTLE
(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, June 24. Broadcasting from London to Poland, General Sikorski, who has now established his headquarters in England, stated: “At a time when the great body of our armies, safely back from France, is landing on the shores of Great Britain, I would like to declare solemnly, in the name of the President of the Polish Republic and the Polish Government, that, animated by an indomitable will, we shall continue to shoulder to shoulder with the powerful British Empire for a free and independent Poland.” General Sikorski said that the British Government had given all its help in the evacuation of Polish troops from France. "Together with our great British ally,” he said, "we shall carry on in this effort. Our place today is in the line of battle. We are fulfilling our alliance with Britain. The Polish nation will persevere in the struggle against Germany to the end.” Tie described the fighting which many Polish divisions had done both in France and Norway. "Polish units fought with "the utmost gallantry, earning the admiration of friends and the respect of the foe,” he said. “The feats the Polish armed forces have accomplished during this year in Norway and France, on the sea and in the air, have recalled the most glorious traditions of the Napoleonic period.” General Sikorski concluded by appealing to his countrymen, despite the shock which France’s surrender must have caused them, to turn a deaf ear on German propaganda, which would seek to break down their resistance. “We have an unshakable confidence that the war, the result of which has not yet been decided, will end with victory for our common and sacred cause," he said. “Britain’s iron will to continue the struggle is subject to no doubt. Standing unyieldingly at her side and at the side of her numerous friends and allies, we shall win, bringing to you and to Europe deliverance.”
