BLOODSTOCK SALES
Recent Dealings Reported MR. STANDFAST TO GO TO QUEENSLAND ■ Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., advise that they have just completed the sale of the imported stallion, Mr. Standfast, to a Queensland breeder. Mr. Standfast is 'by Buchan from Cinna. and is, therefore, a half-brother to Beau Bere and Gaj Shield. He served a short period at the stud in Ireland before being purchased for a syndicate in New Zealand. His first and only runner in Ireland, the two-year-old Ever True, was undefeated. Mr. Standfast, who was taken over by Mr. M. Tims, of Te Awamutu, who headed the original syndicate, has served two seasons in the Waikato, and a lot of the best mares in the North Island have visited him. His first crop of foals are outstanding and there, is no doubt that he was .a stallion who was certain to make a great mark here as a sire. The price paid for Mr. Standfast was a very sulwtantial one, otherwise. Mr. Tims would not have parted with him. Hazarat to Go to Gisboriie, Another recent sale of interest is that of the imported stallion Hazarat to Mr. James Peel. Gisborne. Hazarat, who was a successful performer in England and Australia, was at the stud in Australia for some years, gnd sired there quite a number of winners, including Cragite, who won the Fernhill Handicap at Randwick. Hazarat was imported to New Zealand on- behalf of Messrs. Malcolm Bros., Te Rapa, Waikato, and has stood there for two seasons. His foals look very promising. He is by the 2000 Guineas winner Craig-An-Ernn, while his dam. Duxford, half-sister to Night Patrol, was .by Swynford from Dark Flight, a half-sister to Chersonese, the dam of Heroic. Valuable Brood Mares to be Sold.
