How To Cultivate Them An address on modern hydrangeas was given at the annual meeting of the Northland Horticultural Society by Mr. R. R. Martin, president of the Kai-ori Horticultural Society. He dealt with propagation, planting mid cultivation, including tlie use of mdm.-ii and artilic'ml fertilizers, mid recommended that priming should not lie done in western districts before August. The best results in propagation, he said, had been obtained from buds with a slight heel. Two sets of six varieties were recommended: Mrs. 11. Mills, Heine Seidel or I'Ttlhling, Xerwaebscn. M. Mathes, Mein Leibiing, Parsifal or Elmar, mid Thomas Stevenson : or Mons Chartres. R. Pelton, Centrillion or Ruins, Adelaide. Merveille, and F.’ Mattes.
