ASSAULT ON CONSTABLE

Charged with assaulting Constable K S. Grubb and with stealing a bicycle valued at £2, Frederick Simpson, seaman, 22. appeared before Mr. Stout, in the Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, yesterday. Sub-Inspector L. R. Capp, who proses cuted, said that when Simpson was arrested for the theft of the bicycle he became very violent, hitting Constable Grubb on the ear and biting his wrist, lie had to be handcuffed. Simpson was fined £2 for assault antt convicted and discharged for the theft.
