Representative Games On Monday Professor Boyd-Wilson was appointed manager of the Wellington representative team to visit Puuiierslon North next Monday, at lust nights meeting of the management, committee of the Weilington Rugby Union. Messrs. J. D. King and F. J. Tiiyard were appointed managers of the Wellington representative team to play a Treuthnm Army team at. Athletic I’ark on Monday, and Father Cleary to attend to the Army team. The Johnsonville club wrote stating that in the junior third division match University v. Johnsonville on Saturday the referee awarded University a penalty goal which hull not crossed the bur. The club explained that it would not have written the letter but. for a discussion with the referee after tiie match, in which he admitted that lie had not watched tiie flight of tiie ball all the way. Mr. de Clifton said the referee reported that the ball had sailed straight for the goiil uud he hud believed it a .gotu and bad signalled so. He had admitted that it was possible for a referee to make a mistake. It was decided to advise the club that the decision was one of fact and could not be altered. Permission was granted for a match between M . D. and H. O. Mills faetoiy team and Konini (Pahiatua) seniors at Petone on June 3. Senior second division fixtures for June 8 arc: Petone v. Pirates, Wakefield Park; Aliramar v. Onslow, polo ground; Marist v. Athletic, in town; Poneke, a bye. A request from the Marlborough union for a visit from a Wellington representative team after the club competitions were concluded was held over for further consideration. Permission was granted the Hutt ami Petone senior teams to play a night match on June 4 at the Hutt. Recreation Ground under flood-lighting conditions, the proceeds to be devoted to the Sick, Wounded and Distress Fund.
The following transfers were granted: D. Taylor, Athletic to St. Patrick's College Old Boys; F. Kildttff, Kaiwarra to Miramar ; H. G. Curran, Porirua to Hutt; J. Wdbberley, Hutt to St. Patrick’s College Old Boys. There were present Messrs. J. N. Millard (chairman), G. F. Jackson. H. Murphy. H. B. Simmonds, J. D. King, W. F. Dudson, A. de Clifton, J. Moffitt, R. J. Burke. F. J. Tiiyard, H. D. Morgan. Professor Boyd Wilson, Father Cleary and Mr. A. E. Neilson (secretary). PUTTING BALL IN SCRUM A letter was received at this week’s meeting of the 'Wellington Rugby Referees’ Association from the 'Wellington Rugby Union in regard to the referee putting the ball in the scrum, a practice which had been adopted in some centres. The referees were instructed that on no account must they adopt this procedure ns it was contracting outside the laws of the game. A seyen-a-side tournament for junior, third, fourth and fifth grade players will be held on June 3. At least 20 referees offered their services for these games, which will be played in the morning commencing at 9 o'clock, the finals to be played at Athletic Park in the afternoon as curtain-raisers to the Army v. 'Wellington representative match. There will be no meeting next Monday night. eVppoin Intents for matches taking place on June 8 will be published in “The Dominion” on Wednesday, June 5. Mr. Bradley, chairman of the N.Z.R.R.A., gave an instructive address on in-goal decisions, which was greatly appreciated by all present. He received a vote of thanks. The next meeting will be held on Monday, June 10.
