After consideration Mr. Justice Fair, in the Supreme Court, Auckland, granted exemption from jury service to a public servant who brought with him a letter in which it was stated that his absence would cause inconvenience to the work of his department. “That is a very general statement," said his Honour. "Everybody's absence would no doubt cause some inconvenience." After deciding that the applicant would be exempted on this occasion his Honour added that members of the public service had to take their part in serving on the jury the same as anyone else, and the fact that some inconvenience was caused was not a ground for exemption. If they could not be replaced, of course, they would be exempted-
