Procession Of Witness Held

WANGANUI, May 16.

The Church of England Men’s Society Dominion conference was continued today in Christ Church Parish Hall, Wanganui. The Bishop of Wellington, the Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland, presided. Holy Communion was celebrated in Christ Church by 'the Bishop of Waikato, the Rt. Rev. C. A. Cherrington, after which the business of conference was continued. This consisted of reports from the various branches, of the society presented by delegates and remits. This afternoon an address was given by Archdeacon G. H. Gavin, New Plymouth, on “Light for the Way,” followed by a group discussion. Tonight there was a procession of Witness, in which bishops, clergy and laymen took part. The procession, headed by the Wanganui Garrison Band, marched down Victoria Avenue to Maria Place, where a brief service was held, and the crowd was addressed by the Rev. M. L. Underhill, Itaetihi. Later the procession re-formed and marched back to Christ Church, where festal evensong was held. The congregation was addressed by Bishop F. A. Bennett. Later, clergy and delegates were entertained at a social gathering. The election of officers resulted: Vicepresidents, Archdeacon J. D. Russell and Mr. J. Snell; Dominion secretary, Mr. C. B. Goddard; Dominion treasurer, Mr. R. H. O. Caldwell; Dominion auditor, Air. R. H. Reaney; Dominion council, Archdeacon G. H. Gavin, Archdeacon A. L, Hansell, Archdeacon E. J. Rich, the Rev. F. AL Kempthorne, Messrs. R. Liggins, A. E. Mabson, G. A. Aminundsen, and H. B. Robb; Dominion executive, the Rev. F. M. Kempthorne, Messrs. R. Liggins, A. E. Alabson, G. A. Aminundsen and H. B. Robb; Dominion executive, the Rev. F. Kempthorne and Mr. R. Liggins.
