NORTHERN IRELAND’S PRECAUTIONS
Parachutist Menace (British Official Wireless and Press Assn.) (Received May’ 16, 7.5 p.m.) RUGBY, May 15. Northern Ireland is taking steps to deal with the menace of enemy parachutists. The Prime Minister, Lord Craigavon, stated that he was in communication with Whitehall authorities on the question of forming a local defence volunteer corps. In the meantime he was persuaded that Northern Ireland had a body of men ready to meet any emergency in the special constabulary—a force of 12,500 fully armed and trained men Stationed in every area and capable of indefinite expansion.
