THREAT TO BOMB BRUSSELS
Statement By German High Command LOUVAIN ALREADY IN RUINS 7 (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) LONDON, May 15. _ A message received from Berlin reads: “The German High Command announces that it no longer recognizes Brussels as an undefended town.” This announcement can only mean that the Germans intend to bomb Brussels. The German High Command, in making the announcement, said: “Our air reconnaissance has established beyond doubt that military columns are using this . railway junction. The German air force from now on will attack all military objectives found in Brussels.” The German air force continues to make ruthless raids in central and western Belgium, Louvain, which for the second time in a quarter of a century is largely a mass of charred ruins, being the worst sufferer. Many civilians have been killed, and the plight, of refugees grows increasingly pitiable. Over 20,000 reached Lille, some on foot and others travelling on pushcarts, bicycles, and lorries. All were exhausted and many penniless.
