RESTRICTED HOURS FOR PETROL SALES
Effect On Rationing Plan ARRANGEMENTS TO MEET INCONVENIENCE The new proposals relating to the. hours of business for petrol stations were referred to last evening by the Minister of Supply, Mr. Sullivan. He said the effect of them on the petrol rationing scheme had been carefully considered. . “The proposals,” said Mr. Sullivan, “will not affect the issue of petrol under coupons or special licences because those concerned may obtain any petro they may require outside the usual hours of business from the nearest emergency station, nor is it anticipated that they will seriously affect the holders of ordinary licences who are required to purchase petrol from their nominated station. “In order, however, to meet any isolated cases of inconvenience, that may arise, arrangements are being made whereby the holders of ordinary licences who can satisfy the local controllers that it is necessary for them to purchase petrol ■ during the hours when their nominated stations are closed may have an appropriate proportion of their monthly allowance transferred -from their ordinary licences to special licences. These special licences will enable them to obtain the quantity of petrol specified therein from the emergency station as required.”
