“SWITZERLAND”
Fascinating Ice Show At New Opera House
“Switzerland," the fascinating ice show and ballet which is having a short return season at the New Opera House, Wellington, has everything that makes a good show —attractive personalities, beautiful settings, sparkling humour, ami bright music. Megan Taylor delights the eye witli her intricate figure skating and whirling pirouettes, and her unerring sense of balance is a revelation. Phil Taylor's daring trick skating at lightning speed is another highlight of the show, as is his elegance and grace when he dances a seventeenth century minuet with Elsie Heathcote. The MacKinnon sisters. Patricia and Joy, give an outstanding performance, skating together in perfect unison. Diana Grafton also deserves mention, and Eddie Marcel the coniperc-eomedian is of West End standard. Connie Graham gives a very amusing interlude with Hal Scott, and Ernie .Marconi and Tommy Russell clown with their violin and piano-accordion. A well-trained ballet rounds off a very enjoyable show, which is of added interest when one remembers that every skater in the company is British.
