Dinner Follows Annual Meeting
The twenty-sixth annual meeting of the New Zealand Women Teachers’ Association yesterday was followed by a dinner at James Smith's. This was the first formal dinner held by the association, and was in .the nature of a centennial year celebration. The president, Mrs. A. Foitlty, presided, and the guest otf honour was Mrs. P. Fraser, wife of Hie Prime Minister. Other official guests included Mrs. 11. G. R. Mason, wife of the Minister of Education, Mrs. C. Stewart, M.P., .Mrs. A. F. MeMurtrie, wife of the AssistantDirector of Education, Mrs. F. C. Loirdell, wife of tlie chief inspector of primary schools, Mrs. Hunter, a former warden of the Wellington Teachers’ Training College, Miss Elsie Andrews. a former Dominion president, and Miss Hetherington, inspector of secondary schools, and Miss Jean Park, presiident-elecl. Letters were received from Miss Phoebe Myers, the first president of the association, Miss Christine Henderson, a foundation member, Miss R. J. Hodgson. Auckland, and Miss .Madge Tayjor, secretary of the Auckland Women Teachers’ Association.
During tlie dinner some interesting reminiscences were given by Mrs. Fraser, .Mrs. Mason. Miss Elsie Andrews, and Miss Findlayson. who were all formerly teachers. An interesting and instructive address by Miss M. Browne, inspector of schools, followed the dinner. Miss Browne, who has recently returned from abroad, spoke on educational conditions overseas. The address was open to the public, and' was well attended. Fifty women -were present, at the dinner.
