ENTERTAINERS’ FEES
Establishment Of New Association
Miss Isobel Langlands, organizer of the Entertainers’ Association of New Zealand, has returned to Wellington. During her absence in Hie South Island she established on a ffrni basis a branch of the society in Christchurch, and made arrangements for brandies to be organized in Dunedin and Invercargill. The object of the new association is to ensure that eutertaiuers shall be placed in the position of receiving payment for their service upon a basis of fair value. ' Only too often, Miss Langlands said, concerts and entertainments were organized, and jieople of talent were solicited to appear and perform, yet afterward they might receive little or no attention, though they were the means of attracting the audience. The association laid it down that only in certain circumstances were members4o play without fee. Similar associations exist in some of the centres of Australia, and the movement looks like spreading throughout the Dominion. Miss Langlands intends to address musicians and entertainers during her present visit to Wellington.
