British Music Society There was a large attendance at the inaugural meeting of the Otaki branch of tiie British Alusic Society, held recently. Mr J. Kirkwood was in the chair. The following officers were elected: President. Dr. B. S. R. Francis; vice-, presidents, Alessrs. J. Kirkwood and Alex. Wilson: hon. secretary and treasurer, Miss Afargaret Laurie; committee, the president, the vice-presidents and secre-tary-treasurer. Airs. Alex. dson, Captain Aiacdonald and Air. J. Williams. Aiiss Valeric Corliss, hon. Dominionorganizer of (be B.ALS. in New Zealand, was present and gave an address on B.ALS. activities. Tiie first part of the evening was devoted to a musical programme supplied bv 8.A1.5. members from AVcllington and Palmerston North. The programme began witli pianoforte items by Aiiss Francis Kevere, who played Ballade in G minor, Etude in E niaip 1 ’ (Chopin), and Waldesrausehen (Liszt). Aiiss Eileen Courtenay, Wellington, sang, and Airs. GibsonFost'er. Wellington, concluded the programme with pianoforte items. This is tiie eleventh branch of the British Alusic Society to be formed during the ei'dit years of its existence in New Zealand.
