WOOL APPRAISAL
Returns For Final Dunedin Fixture (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, April 29. heturns for the final wool appraisal in Dunedin have now been announced. Though the total number of bales appraised on April 9 represented a decrease of approximately 7000 on those sold at: auction on April 19, 1939, the decrease being due to the unfavourable spring of 1939, the diversion of ti quantity of wool from eastern Southland to Bluff and the appraisal of North Otago wool at Otrmaru, the total proceeds from the recent appraisal represented a comparatively small decrease on the returns from the last wool sale of 1939. This was because the average price a bale last year was £ll/18/5, or B.Bd. tr lb. as against £lO/9/10 a bale, or 12.13 d. a lb. in the appraisal earlier this month. Details are as follows: Wool appraisal, April 9. 1940: Balos appraised, 16.305: total proceeds. £258.881/3/11: average price a Hi--12 Bld.: average price a bale. £l6/9/10. Wool sale.
