LABOUR RULE ENDS
Brisbane City Council BRISBANE. April 29. Labour Party rule on the Brisbane City Council ended at the election on Saturday. The Labour Lord Mayor, Mr. A. J. Jones, who has held office for six.years, was heavily defeated. The new' Lord Mayor, Mr. J. B. Chandler (Citizens’ Municipal Organization) defeated Mr. Jones by 105,341 votes to 49,414. Mr. Chandler will have the support of 13 other members, as against Labour's representation of seven. _
