Ministerial. The Hon. F. Jones, Minister of Defence, left Wellington for Auckland by aeroplane yesterday to take part in the farewell to the flying-boat Aotearoa on its first commercial flight this morning, from Auckland to Sydney. He will return to Wellington by aeroplane today. The Rev. C. E. Perkins, Wellington, has been elected president of the newlyformed Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Mr. E. G. Spraggon left Wellington for the South Island by last night’s steamer express. Mr. J. Cable travelled south from Wellington last night by the steamer express. Colonel H. E. Barrowclough. D. 5.0., M.C., officer commanding the 6th Infantry Brigade, arrived at. Wellington yesterday by the Limited express. Mr. A. B. Fuller, governing director of Fuller’s Theatres, Ltd., was a passenger from Wellington for the south last night by the steamer express.

Mr. W. Burton, New Zealand Motion Picture Exhibitors’ Association representative on the Cinematograph Film Operators’ Licensing Board, left Wellington for the south last night by the steamer express.

Mr. A. B. Farquhar, manager for the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Limited, in Lautoka, Fiji, for several years, has arrived at Auckland en route to Australia to take over the management of the company's Victoria Mill, Herbert River, North Queensland.

Mr. W. E. Anderson, temporary employers’ representative on the Court of Arbitration, returned to Wellington yesterday after spending the weekend in Auckland. It is expected that. Mr. W. U. Prime, employers’ representative on the Court, "ill be able to resume bis duties in a fortnight’s time. The Hon. 11. C. Moncktou, Suva, a member of the Legislative and Executive Councils of Fiji and adviser on native affairs to the Government, has arrived in Auckland on final leave before retiring. He Is accompanied by Mrs. Moncktou. After about a month in Auckland they will ,go to Sydney. Dr E P. Neale, author of “Guide to New Zealand Official Statistics.” has been elected president of the Auckland Institute for Education Research. Dr. Neale was formerly .( member of Hie <lalT of Hie Census and Statistics Department and later assistant to the Professor of Economics at Victoria University College.
