Hay- ’ den, secretary of tlie National Patriotic Fund Board, of the prompt response made by Wellington women and secondary school girls to a call made by the board last, week to sew up up and (ill approximately 2000 liussifs. The bussifs were required urgently. Through lite mayoress (Mrs. Hislop) the Wellington Women's Metropolitan Patriotic Committee was asked to do the greater part of the work, and women living in Wellington ami also Eastbourne, Petone and Lower Hut l , put through the big job they were asked to do in :i couple of days. The remainder of live work was undertaken by Wellington Technical College girls ami Wellington East Girls' College pupils in their spare time, and they, too. gave valuable help. "The whole job.” said Mr. Hayden, "was completed in two or three days, and. on liehalf of the board. I desire to express my admiration and appreciation of the splendid response to the board's call at such short notice and of the excellent results achieved.”
