Beekeepers’ Conference The annual conference of the Beekeepers’ Association of New Zealand was continued at the Exhibition yestert'!lTbe secretary reported that the membership of the association had grown in two years from 137 to 54jj. The association's journal had been one of the main factors in stimulating this increase. The conference spent some time discussing remits from branches' relating to the continuance of the journal. Hitherto the association hlid been receiving a subsidy of £l6O from the New Zealand Honey Control Board, but this grant was recently- stopped, and remits urging its reinstatement were passed. It was claimed that the journal had been the means of cementing the unity of members, and its continuance was considered to be absolutely necessary. The remits are to be presented to the Government. Appreciation was expressed of the signal service which the general secretary and editor of the journal, Mr. Kirker, had given in advancing the affairs ot the ' lS A C short > 'address was given by Mr. B. G Goodwin, district supervisor of the Horticultural Division of the Department of Agriculture at Palmerston North, who explained LLie organization of the division and how the department endeavoured to co-operate with the beekeepers.
