Major-General J. E. Duigan, Chief Of General Staff

EXTENSION OF ONE YEAR

The services of Major-General J. 13. Duigan, as Chief of the General .Staff in New Zealand have been retained by the Government for another year. This announcement was made by the Minister of Defence, Mr, Jones, in an interview yesterday.

Major-General Dulgan’s term of appointment expired on March 31, and this will be the second extension of one year he has received. His work in the preparation of New Zealand’s defence and war effort was praised by MajorGeneral B. 0. Freyberg, V.C., when he was in the Dominion recently following his appointment as commander of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas.
