Whyte lias been appointed ir member of the Palmerston North Licensing Committee. The Hon. F. Waite, M.L.C., arrived at Wellington by the steamer express from tlie South Island yesterday. Mr. P. A. Lawlor, Wellington, returned by the steamer express yesterday after a visit to the South Island. Lieutenant-Colonel .1. E. Anderson was a passenger for Wellington by the steamer express yesterday. He was accompanied by .Mrs. .Wlerson. Squadron Leader G. Coull arrived at Wellington' yesterday by the steamer express from tlie South Island. Mr. A. M. Sattertliwaite, Christchurch, arrived at Wellington by the steamer express from tlie South Island yesterday. Mr. 11. B. Duckworth, Christchurch, president of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation, arrived at Wellington by the steamer express yesterday morning. Mr. L. J. Clapp, headmaster of the Ellendale School, who has been in the service of tin' Southland Education Board for 3(1 years, will leave at the end <>f the nionth to become headmaster of the Hataitai School, Wellington.
