The number included quite small "historic houses." which were preserved because of their associations with (he early days of the country. The science and industrial museums included such exhibits as aeroplanes, where visitors could take the controls, start the motor, and do everything but actually fly. "Trail side” museums, found near natural attractions. containing exhibits of interest in the history of Hie localities, now numbered -10. The only one of that kind found in New Zealand was at Waitaugi. In New York alone leaflets j were distributed in trains, buses and , subways giving directions as to how to i find 73 museums. s
