A remarkable ninth wicket partnership between Clark and Rennie was a feature of the match concluded at the University Oval todnv, in which Otago University beat Canterbury College by an innings and 211 runs. The partnership was responsible for Otago’s score being increased by 220 runs to the final total of 443. Rennie being 117 not out and Clark 99. This left Canterbury, with a first innings score of 63. an almost impossible task to perforin, and though some clean hitting by Mitchell, the Canterbury captain, improved his side's record in the game, the visitors were dismissed for 169, Mitchell 50, Loveridge 30.
