PLEASANT AT HOME

Mission Union Celebrates 40 Years' Endeavour A very enjoyable at home was held recently In tlie Kent Terrace schoolroom, when the Kent Terrace branch of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union celebrated its fortieth birthday. The Rev. H. R. Fell and - Mrs. Fell welcomed tlie guests. Among them were several foundation members and representatives from practically all the branches. Mrs. C. S. Falconer gave an outline of tlie activities from tlie first meeting in 1900 to the present day, and also read the minutes of the first meeting. Mrs. R. Inglis, president of the 'Wellington P.A., and Mrs. Norman McLeod, busy 'bee organizer, brought greetings and congratulations from their organizations. Mr. R. Johnson, representing the church session, complimented members on the successful years that they bad enjoyed. The play "The Outcast.” was presented in costume by tlie girls’ Bible class, under tlie leadership of Miss Nancy Gartell, and tlie Busy Bees, trained by Miss Marjorie McMurray, sang “The Whole Wide World.’” Beautiful hydrangeas decorated the schoolroom ami buttonholes were given to former presidents and foundation members. Afternoon tea was served by the committee, and the lovely birthday cake, witli its -10 candles, which were lit by former presidents, was cut by Miss Mary Thompson, a foundation member, and was handed round to the guests by the four vice-presidents. The cake was the gift of Mrs. J. E. Dawson, a vicepresident. Sirs, J. E. Lopdell, vicepresident of the Wellington P.A., returned thanks for the pleasant party. Among the 1-10 guests were three former presidents, Mrs. W. Gilmour, Miss M. Thompson, Miss Hilda Smillie, and tlie following present officers: —Mrs. IT. R. Fell (president), Mesdames E. C. Jack, J. E. Dawson, I. Shaw and Miss Thompson (vice-presidents). Miss Vera Dawson (secretary)' and Mrs. I. Shaw (treasurer), and (lie committee, Mesdames M. Bannister. Murdock. J. Watt. J. Carswell, C. King and Misses D. Sonimerville and Mcßean.
