Mr. Attlee Sums Up War’s Objective LONDON, Marcli 7. Britain’s war aims were summed up by the Leader of tlie Opposition, Jlr. Attlee, in a speech, as the death of tha Hitler spirit. This, he said, must precede any peace settlement. The British must not admit thu German claim that they were a superior race, that the Czechs and Poles were secondary citizens,' and that the Jews were not citizens at all. he said.
Speaking of the sacrifices involved, he said there was bound to be an increase iu Government coutrol, am! many great industries were ripe for nationalization. “I am quite sure we are going to have sacrifices,” he said, “and I am sure that the nation wi’l insist on equality of sacrifice. The luxuries of the rich will have to go before the necessities of the poor.”
