Complaints About Sewerage System The Mrik.ira County Council, at irs monthly meeting yesterday, decided to ask the Health Department to make au exhaustive report on the whole of the sewerage system at the Porirua Mental Hospital. Cr. R. G. Mexted said that the sewage from the hospital was polluting Porirua harbour, which was a serious matter for tlie Maoris, who obtained their fish supplies there. He bad received several complaints also with regard to the pollution of the stream, which was causing annoyance to residents in the locality. He moved that the Health Department be asked to make a report on the whole sanitary system at the hospital. The motion was seconded by Cr. R. N. Bothamley, who remarked that the position had become acute. The chairman, Mr. E. Winclley, said that the hospital authorities had for years past found the disposal of sewage a difficult problem, and were doing their best to overcome it. Cr. Mexted’s motion was carried. Maintenance of Main Roads. It was decided to pay the City and Suburban Highways Board £552/IVB for its claim of £S49/o/- for the maintenance of the Main West Road (Nga-hauranga-Tawa Flat), and the Main Hutt Road (Ngahauranga-Petone). Cr. Luxton was appointed to represent the council on the Wellington Recruiting Comn.\tee. It was decided to inform the Wellington City Council that the Makara County Council was in favour of the present system of the allocation of heavy traffic fees in the Wellington district being continued.
