Dividends Announced Howard Smith, Limited, has advised the Stock Exchange Association that at the ordinary general meeting on April 3 the directors will recommend, subject to audit, a dividend of 3 per cent, for the half-year ended December 31 L 1939, on the ordinary capital, making 5 per cent, for the year, an unchanged rate. The ordinary share transfer books will be closed from Alarch 20 to April 3, both days inclusive. The usual quarterly dividend to March 31 on the 6 per cent, cumulative preference shares was declared and will b; 1 paid on April 6. The preference share transfer books will be closed from April 1 to 6. both days inclusive. Woolworths (Victoria), Ltd. Woolworths (Victoria). Ltd., has advised the Stock Exchange Association that a dividend of 3-J per cent, for the half-year ended March 31. 1940. has been declared on the 7 per cent, preference share capital of the company, and will be paid on April 15. based on shareholdings as at March 31.
