Successful Year Reported By National Reserve The annual meeting of the Seatoun branch of the Women’s National Reserve, Owen Street, was held recently and there was an. excellent attendance. Mrs. Porter (president of the Residential Nursery) presided. The secretary, Mrs. Lancaster, presented the annual report, which showed the zeal and fine work of the branch. The treasurer, Mrs. Kimmitis, presented the balance-sheet, which was satisfactory, £BO/12/6 being raised for the year. - ,• The president, Mrs. B. F. Gardmei, who is in her twenty-first year of service, expressed gratitude for the fine work of the executive and members, specially during her indisposition last year, when their co-operation and loyalty to the cause had been a comfort to her. She regretted that she had felt it best to resign her position as leader, she said, but she would help in the work she had so much at heart, as she had done in the past. Il was with pleasure that she proposed as her successor, Mrs. Davis, who had acted as president in the past for a year, when she had successfully catried out the duties. The proposal was carried by acclamation, and Mrs. Davis expressed her willingness to carry on in place of Mrs. Gardiner. Mrs. Gardiner referred to the death of Miss Freeman, who had been associated with the work since its inception. The chairman congratulated all upon their fine achievement for the year. The enthusiasm, self-sacrifice, and persistent effort had been wonderfully sustained throughout, siie said. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. Davis; secretary. Mrs. Kimmins: treasurer. Mrs. Xewey; vice-presidents, Mesdames I’ycrofl, Stone. Snelling and Lancaster. On behalf of the members. Mrs. Lancaster presented Mrs. Gardiner with an interesting book and shoulderspray as a small token of their affection and appreciation. Mrs. Gardiner presented Mrs. Lancaster with a beautiful floral tribute in appreciation of her long years of service as secretary. Mrs. Kimmins was presented with an attractive floral offering as a token of appreciation of her I borough work as treasurer. Mrs. Gardiner presented Mrs. I’orliT with an attractive and unique gift, which was greatly appreciated. The meeting was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem, accompanied by Allen Gardiner. A. dainty home-made lea was served.
