YACHTS CAPSIZE ON HARBOUR

One Crew In Water An Hour And A Half NORTHERLY WIND CAUSES TROUBLE 'l'lie crews of tliree yachts lin'd unenviable experiences when their craft were capsized on AVellington harbour by the gusty north-westerly wind yesterday. The crew of the Reo, an Idle Along class yacht, was in the water for about an hour and a half and a member of the crew of the other yacht, the 14-footer, Kio, collapsed after being picked up- Artificial respiration lutd to be applied. The Reo capsized off Point Halsweil at about 12.45 p.m. and eventually drifted ashore, witli the crew clinging to tiie bottom. One member received a cut on tiie leg. 'l’lie Kio capsized in Evans Bay about half way between tiie Evans Bay Yacht Club shed and the Miramar wharf at 2 p.m. 'Die crew of five were picked up by the launch Marlin. AVarren Coffey, 11 Lonsdale Crescent, the one fo whom artificial respiration was applied, was able to go home later. A third mishap occurred at Eastbourne when the Pegaway capsized about two miles off (lie shore. The Pegaway, with three youths on board, was caught by an extra strong gust of wind and efforts to right tiie boat were unsuccessful.

The capsize of the Pegaway was observed from the shore and within a short time (lie crew was rescued by another boat, the Aurora. The youths were none tiie worse for their jnishap and (lie Pegaway was eventually washed ashore.
