LOYALTY EXPRESSED
Royal Society Of St. George WELLINGTON BRANCH A resolution expressing the loyally of the Wellington branch of the Hoyal Society of St. George and its delermiiiation to stand behind the Government in the war against Nazi aggression was adopted al the third annual meeting of the society in Wellington recently. It was further resolved that all members who had joined the armed forces should retain membership without subscription till the end of the war.
Mr. J. E. Hunt presided. The annual report slated that the society had enjoyed n successful year, with a considerable increase in membership. The annual dinner, held on St. George's Day. was a success, and was attended by I be Governor-General, Lord Galway, and Lady Galway- Dinner and dance music was provided by the Band of the Hoyal New Zealand Air Force. ft was decided that all women members of the society should form a committee to do patriotic work in conjunction with the St. .John Ambulance Society. Appreciation was expressed of the' Wellington Women's Metropolitan Society’s action in making supplies of wool available. The society’s principal gathering of the coming year, it was stated, would be a dinner on St. George's Day, at which Sir Harry Batterbee. High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand, would be the guest of honour. The following ollieers were elected: President: Mr. .1. E. Hunt, .1.1’., (reelected); vice-presidents, Mrs. A. Whitehorn (re-elect-ed) : auditor, Mr. W. .1. Mount joy; committee, Mesdamcs Auld, I'lore, MacGuoiie, Levied;, Thompson. AVebb and Miss Shaw, and Messrs. Blore. Kemp, .AlacGuone; social committee, Mesdames Auld, Adams, Pyle. Hees, ami Miss Atlants, and Messrs. Clark. Anting and liees. In appreciation of the services they had rendered to the society .Air. and Mrs. Thompson, and Aliss Thompson received gifts from the president, who spoke highly of their work, for the society. Mr. Thompson, in reply, said that he and his family had done only what .'my loyal member of Hie society would do*
