SAFETY OF LETTERS
Correspondence For Great Britain DELAYS CAUSED BY WAR The Bost Office has received, a number of inquiries as to the safety of letters sent to England. The Postmas-ter-General, Mr. Jones, said last evening that it was believed that most of these inquiries had arisen out of the increased time taken by sea mails in reaching Great Britain. “The delays that have occurred have been caused entirely by circumstances created by the war,” said Mr. Jones. “It is expected, however, that such delays will not be so great in future. “If any person in New Zealand, therefore, receives inforynation that mail matter has not reached its English destination by an expeetdd date, he should not entertain any undue concern. as to the safety of tlie mail. Up to the present, no indication has been received in New Zealand that any mails in transit from or for the Dominion have been lost as a result of the war. Generally it will be found the letters thought possibly to be missing will be delivered in due course.”
