AUCKLAND, February 11
Arriving at Auckland tomorrow as a special visitor for the .Methodist Church Centennial celebrations, the Rev. Arthur E. Albiston, formerly professor of theology at Queen’s College, affiliated with the University of Melbourne, will undertake a six weeks’ .tour of New Zealand, bolding services and meetings in most of the principal towns. Mr. Albiston is the son of the Rev. Joseph Albiston, who died in Victoria after 65 years in the Methodist ministry, Mr Albiston. who was born in Melbourne, entered the ministry in 1889, and was engaged on active work for -18 years, being superannuated in 1937. After a distinguished circuit record, Mr. Albiston was elected president of the Methodist Conference of Victoria and Tasmania in 1919, and he has twice been elected president of the Melbourne College of Divinity. He was elected secretary-general for the General Conference of Australia and New Zealand in 1935, mid in 1938 he became pre-sident-general, a position he still holds. Mr. Albiston has a record of distinguished scholastic attainments. In spite of his long service, he is remarkably active, and his preaching powers are said to be unabated. Mr. Albiston will attend the annual conference of Hie Methodist Church opening in Dunedin on February 22, revisiting Auckland before bis return to Australia at the end of March.
