First Waipukurau Fair
VALUES EASIER THAN AT STORTEORD LODGE Dominion Special Service. WAII’UKURAU, February 9. An easing in values compared with •Slortfonl Lodge was apparent at the first Waipukurau ewe fair of the 1940 season today, when a record yarding of more than 52.1)011 camo forward, creating a big transport stir for several days. Selling opened quietly, but brightened with 33/C> for an excellent entry of stroiigwoolled two-tooths from Mahoe station. 33/- for a further offering from the same quarter, and 32/9 for ewes ou account of Estate J. S. Curler. Runtaniwha, 33/G for t’vo-tooths offered by It. J. Brown, Tikokino. and 34/1 for a lot from Otnakeie station.
The prolonged windy weather was considered to. be a factor in the price levels. There were many drafts of good quality sheep, and on the whole quality was ahead of that at Stortford last week. Specially attractive fjye-year-olds on account of M. Greenwood, Oneroa station, made 24/9; R. W. Holden obtained 22/8 and 22/3, ami G. S. Douglas 22/7. For six-tootlis Wallingford station received 26/- to 2G/3, and 26/3 was paid for four-tooths from Te Awa station. A line of 220 ettrly-sliorn two-tooths on account of D. N. Tiffen realized 30/6. and for 290 fine-woolled two-tooths, sold in two lots, W. Henderson obtained 32/- and 32/7. Another good entry of 324 early-shorn two-tooths. on behalf of R. W, Holden, Makarctu, realized 32/1.
