GIFT EVENING
Mrs. Tanner and Mrs. Norman’ Tanner were joint hostesses recently at a ‘‘gift evening” held in honour of Miss Agnes EH, whose marriage to Mr. Jack Hurcombe will take place on Saturday. Miss Ell is a well-known women's cricket representative and a very popular member of the Technical College Old Girls’ Cricket. Club, the members of which helped in no small mantier to make the evening a success. Prior to supper, the bride-to-be opened the numerous parcels, which contained many useful, as well as charming, gifts.
Old silver has not only a definite artistic value, but also an added and appreciating value by reason of its age. design and craftsmanship. Robin and Co., 17 Grey St., are showing a very fine collection of old silver —spoons, teapots and tea sets, candlesticks —a lovely tall pair, with spiral wreathes of tiny flowers, etc. Very special is a beautiful claret, jug—perfect for iced drinks! —cut glass, mounted with silver gilt. The handle is a vine with bunches of grapes, and the lid matches in design while the spout is decorated with a head of Bacchus —a perfect wedding gift.—Advt.
