Dominion Special Service. WANGANUI, January 31. An average yarding of sheep was offered bv Freeman R. Jackson and Co., at the sale conducted in Wanganui today. The attendance of buyers was excellent. Fat sheep were fully firm at late rates, with a very keen sale on forward lambs. Shorn and woolly b.f. wether lambs and medium and cull lambs maintained late rales. Only oddments of grown sheep were for fat lots, only oddments of stores were offered in the cattle section. A light beef yarding realized prices slightly above those of last week. Vealers so<d at late rates. . With the exception of weaners, which were a shade easier, all classes of pigs sold at. late rates. South Island draught horses were bought for £24 and £25.
Prices are:— ■ Sheep: Fat lambs 20/- to 21/6, light 17/6 to 19/9; fat wethers, two-tooths, 19/- to 22/-; fat ewes 14/- to 15/6, light 9/- to 13/-; forward b.f. lambs, woolly, to 18/9, shorn 14/- to 15/-, average, 11/6 to 13/7; woolly wether lambs to 15/9, shorn 12/- to 13/2, medium 9/- to 11/2, small 6/- to 8/6, culls 4/- to 6/-; average woolly ewe lambs to 17/-, shorn, small to medium, 12/5 to 15/-; small twotooth ewes 18/- to 20/9. Cattle: Prime P.A. and Hereford cows £8 to £B/5/-; fat S.IL cows £6/7/6 to £6/15/-; prime Jersey cows £5/5/- to £5/17/6; fat £4 to £5; heavy boner cows £2/5/- to £3/10/-; bulls £4 to £4/10/-; autumn calving dairy cows and heifers £5/15/- to £7/15/-. Pigs: Choppers £2/12/- to £3; porkers £l/15/- to £2/5/-; good stores 30/- to 35/-, average 21/- to 28/-, slips 15/- to 20/-; weaners 12/- to 14/-. Vealers: Runners £2/15/- to £3/10/-; vealers £2/4/- to £2/12/-; calves 7/- to 15/-.
