More Slipshod History

Sir,—As a Waikato visitor to Wellington I attended the service at Petone beach held to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of the service conducted by the Rev. James Buller on board the Aurora on Sunday, January 26, 1840. This date was correctly printed on the souvenir programme but is carelessly and wrongly given as January 27 in two places in an allegedly historical sketch embodied in the souvenir. Such blunders are not to be excused when careful historians have already given exact dates and correct details in publications that are easily accessible. —-I am, etc., W. PATON PRICE. Wellington, January 28.
