Senator's Wife Views Plunket Activities
Mrs. Mcßride, wife of Senator P. A. Al. M'cßride, accompanied by Mrs. AV. Nash, spent much time yesterday inspecting the work being done by the Plunket Society in Wellington. Airs. 11. Jowett, president of the AVelliugton branch, conducted the visitors' on their tour of inspection which began with a prolonged stay at. Lhe Plunket rooms in Kent. Terrace. From there the pai'ty went to the new Plunket play area, and thence to Truby King House, where Sir Truby King’s last resting-place and liis line home were viewed. At. the Karitane Hospital, the matron, Aiiss HitchcoGk, received Airs. Alcllride and Airs. Nash and the tour concluded with an inspection of the gardens. Airs. Aleßride expressed herself as greatly interested in all that she saw and as impressed with the work and organization. At Women’s Section. A visit to the countrywomen’s section in the AVomen’s Court of the Exhibition was paid on Thursday morning by Airs. Aleßride. The visit was made at the invitation of the chairman of the section, Miss Amy Kane. Airs. Aleßride, who is a member of the Countrywomen’s Association of South Australia, was very interested in the many articles made from natural resources in and around the country home, which: are exhibited, and in the overseas exhibits sent by countrywomen from England, Scotland and Rhodesia.
Popular Exhibition Cabaret. It might have been expected that, dancing activities would slacken off at the Exhibition Cabaret after the holidays, but such is not tlie case. 'The delightfully equipped ballroom, the music supplied by Manuel Haymond and his famous band, and the- catering arrangements have so impressed tlie dancing, public that a large, regular clientele has been established. Dancing continues nightly till 1 a.m.. and from tonight arrangements have been provided for a bus leaving Resolution Street, at 1 a.m. This will be a great boon to patrons.
Mrs. E. I’rideanx I’ridham, Wellington, and her daughter, Patricia, are leaving for a few days in Auckland on their way to Hie Bay of Islands, where they will make their future home.
