“SWITZERLAND”

Has Ingredients For A Good Show Everything that makes for a good show —complete novelty, exeeiptional talent, colour, attractive settings and ensembles. liiiino-ur that s.parkle.M with freshness and polish, and bright music—is included in ■"-Siwitzerliinid," ilrawing capacity audiences in the New Opera Hou-.’e. "Switzerland,” indeed, is an excellent reproduction—though naturally on a smaller scale—-of the sensational ice show presented in the London Coliseum in 1935. It is a revue on skates with a few excellent vaudeville turns for good measure —a -tun fair on s>kates, for there is delightful fun all the way-—a ballet on S'kates, for there are moments of genuine beauty—an athletic spectacle on skates, for every member of this J. C. Williamson ice show who wears blades is at least a competent exponent, and half a dozen of them are breathtakiu.gly clever. 'The grace and expertness of Megan Taylor in her execution of every known figure in ice skating, in whirling pirouettes that confounded tlie eye. and in her unerring sense of balance and poise, was a revolution in this art. Phil Taylor's daring athleticism on skates, his lightning speed, his wonderful performance or. stilts and his elegance in the dance, sustained his world reputation. Nor could one overlook the elegance with which this performer, in white satin court dres'S of the Seventeenth century, danced the minuet with the sylph-like Elsie Heathcote. and all within, the space of a square of real ice'4o feet by 30 feet. Two expert and beautiful skaters who catch the eye are Patricia and Joy .AlaeKiniion, and another clever member of the company is Diana Grafton. Eddie Marcel is a. compere-comedian of AA'est End standard. Connie Graham is a gifted mimic, and Tommy Russell and Ernie Alarcnni fool amusingly with their music. "Switzerland" will bo presented this afternoon, as well ns tonight.
