Effect On Stock Purchases
MEAT BOARD CHAIRMAN'S STATEMENT
Tlie Meal Board had been in dost touch with Mr. Nash in connexion w.ith the sale of all the country’s primar. products, and the arrangements now made for the sale of New Zealand s tx port surplus of slipe wOOl ® , very favourably received by all fanners of the Dominion, said the chairman o the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, Mr. T. A. Duncan, in an interview last night following the announcement bv the Minister of Marketing, Mr. Nash, of the arrangements for the sale of the export surplus of slipe wool to the United Kingdoiii. Mr. Duncan said that freezing companies and operators had up to now been handicapped in assessing the vatu of wool from fat stock when milking out a schedule for Hie purchase of H'*stock. . > "The price now arranged for the sum of our slipe wool is in excess of the estimate made in the buying schedules to date,” he said, “and it is pleasing to note that some farmers htrve already been promised an additional payment on stock purchased to date.” Mr. Dunean added that it might be expected that similar action would be adopted by other buyers throughout the Dominion on stock purchased before this announcement. No finality had yet been reached with regard to hides, and discussions were still taking place with a view to seeing that, satisfactory arrangements were made to suit all parties.
“Everything possible is being done to complete this matter as quickly as possible.” Mr. Duncan said.
