New General Secretary And Counsel MR. J. MELTZER Out of 49 applicants, Mr. J. Meltzer, barrister ami solicitor, of Wellington, has been appointed general secretary and counsel of the New Zealand Police Association, tilling the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. I. D. Campbell. LL.M., who is taking up a law lectureship at Victoria University College. Mr. .Meltzer was educated in England, and subsequently at the Auckland Grammar School, and Victoria University College. He was champioi: rille shot for Ihe Auckland military district in 1910, and in 1921 won the university featherweight boxing championship, ami was runner-up for the New Zealand University title. He played Rugby and Soccer in Aueklami, and is now chairman of the Wellington Football Association. After being engaged in the Customs Department, Auckland, and the Public Trust Office, Wellington, from 1917 to 1923, Mr. Meltzer began practice iu

Wellington as a. barrister and solicitor lie was president of the Hataitai Halepayers’ Association, honorary secretary of the Hataitai Horticultural Society and the Wellington Crippled Children Society, and a member of the Hataitai School Comniillee. In addition to the duties of his new office, Mr. Meltzer will be continuing his practice as barrister and solicitor iu Wellington.
